HOSA COMPETITIONS
What are HOSA Competitions?
-
Tests members may use these to gauge their understanding of a particular subject
-
Ranks you among all HOSA members in the state (or internationally!)
-
A way to distinguish yourself from others who are interested in healthcare and medicine
How do they Work?
-
HOSA competitions are divided into three phases: online qualifier, state, and international. Making it to the next level requires scoring well in the previous.
-
Testing happens after school, depending on which days members are available. All members must take the test on the same day.
-
All online qualifiers are taken on the computer, similar to a Canvas test. Subsequent tests may be online or in-person. For example, Medical Terminology is always online, while CPR is online for the qualifiers and skill-based for the state.

How do I Prepare?
-
Use the information on the HOSA website such as the competition guideline pdf which includes the subjects you will be tested on
-
Rent a textbook from Amazon or the library. The library has more than you think!
-
Use quizlets! Many HOSA members from around the country post quizlets with useful information. Always check other sources too!
